Orhan Holding, a signatory to the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, announced that it has taken the first step to become a signatory to the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) in honor of International Women's Day on March 8th.
Orhan Holding, seeing diversity and inclusion as integral parts of its code, has taken the first step to become a signatory to the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a joint initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women. Since its inception, Orhan Holding has firmly believed in the importance of fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, one that draws upon the broadest and richest talent pool of both women and men, for the success of both today and tomorrow. By signing the WEPs, Orhan Holding expands its global reach in promoting gender equality and reaffirms its leading role in diversity and inclusion.
Empowering women and investing in current and future generations of female talent has always been a top priority for Orhan Holding, according to Orhan Holding Executive Committee Member and Human Resources Vice President Evrim Bayam Pakiş. She emphasized that the company applies global equal standards to all employees in every aspect of employment, from hiring to compensation, development, and internal promotions. Pakiş emphasized that women at Orhan Holding occupy pivotal roles spanning from senior management and factory leadership to operational and security positions. Notably, women constitute 20% of the holding's senior leadership. Demonstrating a global commitment to gender diversity, the company boasts a 35% female workforce across its factories in 15 countries, ranging from India to Mexico. Moreover, Pakiş highlighted that women account for 40% of the management team at the Gemlik facility.
"Our commitment to gender equality is underscored by our signing of the UN Global Compact, a leading UN initiative," said Evrim Bayam Pakiş, Executive Committee Member and Human Resources Vice President at Orhan Holding. By signing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), we reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and our leadership role in this area. At Orhan Holding, we place great importance on achieving equal status for women in both social and professional spheres, creating employment opportunities for them, and ensuring that their efforts and aspirations are duly recognized. At Orhan Holding, we support the education of girls in technology and engineering fields to expand the future pool of female employees in the workforce. Through our internship programs at our factories, we commit to having 50% female students, preparing them for professional life and guiding them along the way. Additionally, we are working to become a corporate member of YenidenBiz, an organization dedicated to reintegrating women who have taken career breaks back into the workforce.
